A charm can be almost any object, as shown by the countless examples of charms or amulets that have been said to ward off evil and bring good luck. Anything from a lucky shirt to a beautiful gemstone can be labeled a charm if its owner credits it with a special significance - usually in the form of some unnatural power that protects and provides good fortune to the owner.
Birthstones:
Originating in Egypt and still very much prevalent today, precious and semiprecious rocks and minerals have been thought to contain special powers. The most common gems are those associated with the twelve months of the year. It is thought that a special quality is bestowed upon each person, depending on the month in which they were born.
