SKEPTICAL INQUIRER INKS DEAL WITH NEW YORK TIMES SYNDICATE
AMHERST, N.Y.--- In recognition of the informative and lively articles found
only in SKEPTICAL INQUIRER magazine, the international New York Times
Syndication Sales Corporation has finalized an agreement with the magazine’s
publisher to syndicate SI articles for republication worldwide.
SKEPTICAL INQUIRER, published by the Committee for the Scientific
Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP), joins a New York Times
Syndicate that represents many of the world’s most prestigious publications.
These include the New York Times, Financial Times, Le Monde, Der Spiegel, The
Economist, Nature and New Scientist. Among New York Times Syndicate
columnists are Bill Gates, Nicholas Negroponte and Mikhail Gorbachev.
The agreement with the New York Times Syndicate is a result of SKEPTICAL
INQUIRER’s twenty year history as the leading world source for informed
criticism and evaluation of the paranormal, the extraordinary, and the
pseudoscientific.
“The agreement makes it possible for millions of readers worldwide to have
access to SI’s message of skepticism, and boosts CSICOP’s response to the
international trend of paranormal infatuation,” said CSICOP Executive Director
Barry Karr.
For years, SKEPTICAL INQUIRER has quietly been recognized as a uniquely
informative and top-quality science magazine. The following is just a sample
of what others have said about SI:
“Its pages are filled with lively and humorous writing—the combat of ideas in
its most enjoyable form.”
—Scientific American
“How can the public separate fact from myth in the flood of occultism and
pseudoscientific theories? Help is on the way....”
—Science News
“I know junk science when I see it. So do you. But it takes CSICOP to
provide the data, the anecdotes, the information that helps us all to respond
to the barrage of unbelievable garbage that regularly assaults us.”
—Leon M. Lederman, Nobel laureate, Physics
“...It’s infused with serious but highly readable research and hard,
sleuthlike analysis of topics...a superb primer on scientific method and
hokum-detection.”
—The Library Journal
“If you’ve been looking for ammunition to put holes in the pseudoscientific
theories propagated by some of your friends, you must get the Skeptical
Inquirer.”—The Village Voice.
“When the Skeptical Inquirer arrives, I always take it home from the office
and pore through its pages, wondering what new misunderstandings will be
revealed. I’m always amazed that there’s still another subject that I never
thought of.”—Carl Sagan

CSICOP is an international, non-profit organization dedicated to the critical
examination and investigation of claims of the paranormal and fringe science.
Founded in 1976, CSICOP is always receptive to departures in thought, yet
insists that they be tested before they are accepted. The bi-monthly journal
the SKEPTICAL INQUIRER, The Magazine for Science and Reason, is the main forum
for publication of these inquiries. Both CSICOP and the SKEPTICAL INQUIRER
are based at the Center for Inquiry, Amherst N.Y. www.csicop.org
