The daily newspaper in my city carries Jeane Dixon's astrology column. Since
she's now dead, the advance supply of columns she's piled up will run out
sometime in the next couple of months. Of course, we know that the papers
could just keep rerunning the old ones in any random order they chose, and
the rubes would be no worse off than they are now.

However, I think this would be a peachy time to suggest that they replace the
columns of the Dead Dixon with something good about a real science:
astronomy. I know that the University of Texas used to have a short radio
program -- called "Star Watch" or some such -- that gave fresh stuff on
astronomy every day. Is there a print version of that (or something similar)
that I could recommend to the features editor? If not, is anyone in a
position to get one fired up real soon?

Really, this should be a national campaign that freethinkers and skeptics
everywhere could get behind.

 Jeane Dixon is dead. Her astrology columns will eventually run out. Of
 course, we all know that you could recycle them indefinitely, at random, and
 the rubes wouldn't know the difference. Still, wouldn't it be great to
 replace them with a daily column about the stars based on REAL SCIENCE?

 What say? Wanna leave the pseudoscience to Ptolemy and the Babylonians and
 roll into the 21st Century as if the last 2 millennia have actually
 represented some progress in human thinking?

 Or are you going to keep acting as if the pope had the right idea when he
 burned Giordano Bruno at the stake for insisting that the Earth revolved
 around the Sun instead of vice versa?
