Copy/Paste Instructions

These instructions assume that you are using a Windows-based PC. Macintosh and UNIX may be different.

  1. Display the chain letter in your mail program.

Be very careful not to click the Forward button at this time. Resist the urge to send the chain letter to ten of your friends! (this is the point at which we lose many chain letter addicts).

  2. Use your mouse to highlight all of the text of the chain letter (click and hold your mouse button at the start of the message, then drag the mouse to the end of the message and release the mouse button).

No! Do not press the Forward button, you have almost made it past the "copy" portion of this exercise!

  3. Release the mouse (the text should remain highlighted), hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, then press the C key. Now release the keys, because the text of the chain letter has been copied into your computer's cut&paste buffer.

At this point you should minimize your mail program - if the chain letter is out of sight, then you will not be as tempted to send it to ten of your friends. Hang in there, we're almost done!

  4. Return to this screen, and click the mouse button in the large text field above. A cursor should appear, so now you can hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, and press the V key. The text of the chain letter should appear in the field.

There, you have almost made it! Now just click the Send button on this page to finish!
