Originally aired in January 1997, A&E's The Unexplained
episode on "psychic detectives" was repeated this weekend. CSICOP's Joe
Nickell made an appearance, as did Gary Posner of the Tampa Bay
Skeptics.

Joe threw down a gauntlet for so-called psychic detectives, challenging
them to reveal the location of Jimmy Hoffa, or to find the knife used to
kill Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman.

In one part of the program, a family whose daughter was missing explained
how opportunistic "psychic detectives" not only hampered the investigation
by bothering the police with false leads, but also caused anguish by
telling family members that their daughter was being tortured in someone's
basement.
